I would like to bring to your attention the Sixth International Conference on Porous Media and the Annual Meeting of the International Society for Porous Media (InterPore.org) which will be held in Milwaukee, 27-30 May 2014. InterPore is a young society established in 2008, as an international forum for natural and industrial porous media science and technology. Its aim is to advance and disseminate knowledge for the understanding, description, and modeling of natural and industrial porous media systems. In particular, application of knowledge and research methodologies from soil science and geosciences to other porous media (biological tissues and plants, fuel cells, concrete, textiles, polymer composites, filters, paper, wood, absorbents, etc. etc.) has been the focus of our activities. The Society has grown rapidly; currently with more than 600 members from both academia and porous media industry. Given your research area, you may wish to become active in this young and growing society. The first opportunity is to participate in its upcoming conference. This conference will comprise 48 oral sessions and 8 poster sessions. Each oral presentation will be 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions/discussion. There are 31 minisymposia (see the list at http://www.interpore.org/conference-program/56-6th-international-confere...), covering a very wide range of subjects, as well as four general topics. The official abstract submission deadline has passed. But, the organizers are very keen to attract high-quality porous media researcher to this meeting, not only those who are working in traditional porous media (that is, soil, groundwater, oil and gas subject areas) but also researchers who are active in newly developed disciplines such as micro and nano-fluidics, tissue engineering, biomechanics, drug delivery, lab-on-a-chip, organ-on-a-chip and so forth. I believe you will take the most advantage of such an interdisciplinary scientific environment which can exclusively be found in the Interpore conferences. The abstract submission system will be kept open for a while for participation from people who might not be aware of this opportunity. For instructions on submitting abstracts, please see the abstract uploading page (http://www.interpore.org/conference-program/56-6th-international-confere...). The conference venue is the award-winning Wisconsin Center (http://wisconsincenter.org). Significantly reduced room rates have been negotiated with Hilton Hotel, which is next to Wisconsin Center. Also, low-rate housing will be available at the University of Milwaukee campus. Please let me know, if you need additional information. Best regards, On behalf of the InterPore2014 Organizing Committee
